Reception Saturday, July 5 at 8 PM

Mapping the flight patterns of chimney swifts and cracks in the sidewalk, A Swamp Beneath the Concrete is an installation-cum-diorama-cum-laterna magica that casts shadows over found objects to reveal lost threads. A writing workshop led by Alex J. Cope will take place in the space on Monday, July 7, using poetry as a divinatory tool to guide us through the space.

Alex J. Cope is a poet and translator based in Chicago. Previously, they lived in Paris, where they organized a multilingual queer and feminist reading series. Through the PO Box Collective, they co-organize a community writing workshop of its monthly poetry series. Work from their manuscript soft like a spider has appeared in publications such as Sixty Inches from Center, The Rumpus, Pilot Press London, and Hooligan Magazine. VAY Sarolta is a collaborator and artist whose work navigates the imaginary border of private & public histories. You can find him swimming in Michi Gami or here.
