Micro-concert Series

Micro No. 4: Long Distance by Steven Snowden
Friday, March 21, 2014
Open 7:30PM // Performance 8PM

Led by local musician Peter Ferry, the Micro-concert Series at Roman Susan presents musical performances in a new format: twenty-minute events highlighting contemporary composition with post-concert space for community discussion.

Micro No. 4 will feature selections from Long Distance by Steven Snowden. The work will be performed on vibraphone with electronic sounds sampled from various pay phones around the US in the 1970s. The performance will coincide with the current gallery installation Objects.

Celebrated as a “percussion genius … celebrating percussion in a stunning, thoughtful way,” (Democrat and Chronicle) Rogers Park-based percussion soloist Peter Ferry is quickly gaining recognition for compelling performances of contemporary works by living composers.

As with all events held at Roman Susan, the Micro-concert series are free, public events. Previous events in the Micro-concert series featured Barracuda by Jacob TV, Staying the Course by David Macbride, and True Colours by John Thrower.
